Two Companions and an IEM
What's on the bench at XOXO Audio Labs right now.
First entry. Here’s what’s on the bench.
FM-1 Companion Pocket
The Pocket is a Raspberry Pi Zero W with a 1.3” OLED that plugs into the M-VAVE FM-1 and gives it what custom firmware like SLOOP leaves out: Bluetooth audio and MIDI, plus a recorder, a sample editor, a MIDI matrix and eleven meters. It’s at v2.8.1, runs on a PiSugar battery, and the code is open source on GitHub.
FM-1 Companion Studio
The Studio is the bigger build: a Pi 3 B+ with a 3.5” touchscreen, every screen redrawn for touch, and a DAW tab that works as a Mackie Control surface for Kraken and Ableton Live. The software (Studio v1.2) is built and tested on a computer. The hardware arrives today, so real-world testing starts now.
A studio IEM
The first XOXO in-ear monitor is in development: three balanced-armature drivers on a 3-way crossover, a universal fit and a detachable 2-pin cable, tuned for studio monitoring. The shell is being designed in Fusion 360. More on the IEM page as it comes together.
